Where it came from
Roger Rabbit #17 was published by Disney Comics in 1991 as part of an ongoing series that extended the world of the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit. During the early 1990s, Disney sought to capitalize on the film's enduring popularity by featuring the titular character in various episodic, slapstick-driven adventures that mirrored the tone of classic animated shorts.
The comic series was produced during an era when Disney was aggressively expanding its print division. The design and narrative style focused on vibrant, high-energy illustrations consistent with the character's manic persona. As part of a larger slate of licensed titles, the series served as a bridge between the feature film and the casual comic-reading audience, ultimately becoming a collectible artifact for fans of 90s animation history.
