Shimazaki in the Land of Peace #3

Shimazaki in the Land of Peace, written by Junya Shiraishi and illustrated by Takeshi濑, debuted in 2022 within the pages of Kodansha’s Morning magazine. The series explores the complex transition of a former elite operative attempting to assimilate into ordinary society, drawing on a tone that balances grounded social commentary with the tension of the protagonist’s hidden past. Issue number 3 continues this narrative arc, focusing on the character's internal conflict as he navigates the mundane pressures of a civilian job while maintaining his hyper-vigilant instincts.

The art style is noted for its clean, cinematic approach, emphasizing the stark contrast between the protagonist's violent history and the tranquil atmosphere of his current environment. By issue 3, the series began to receive critical attention for its nuanced character study rather than relying solely on the action tropes typical of the genre. Readers and critics have responded positively to the meticulous pacing, which highlights the author’s interest in the psychological toll of re-entry into society after a life of covert service.
