Where it came from
Shin no Seijo de Aru Watashi wa Tsuihō Saremashita. Dakara Kono Kuni wa Mō Owari Desu, known in English as I Was Banished as the True Saint, So This Country Is Done For, originated as a light novel series written by Chaneko. The story follows a protagonist who is falsely identified as an impostor and cast out, only for the kingdom to suffer the loss of her protective powers. This narrative taps into the popular 'rejection and vengeance' subgenre within Japanese fantasy light novels, which saw a significant surge in reader interest during the late 2010s.
The manga adaptation, which includes the twelfth volume, features artwork by Rara Aoi. The adaptation is serialized in digital format, emphasizing a visual style that balances whimsical fantasy tropes with the protagonist's emotional journey. The series has garnered a loyal following through its steady release schedule and is typically well-received by readers who enjoy classic shōjo-influenced character designs paired with isekai-style kingdom management themes.
