Sirens: Love Hurts #3

Sirens: Love Hurts was published by Antarctic Press in the mid-1990s, a period defined by a surge in independent, pin-up style comic books. The series was designed to showcase the work of several popular illustrators of the era, focusing heavily on stylized, fantasy-oriented character designs rather than traditional long-form storytelling. The third issue continues this mission, acting as a visual anthology that highlights a specific aesthetic popular among collectors of the direct-market independent scene during that time.

The production of the series was driven by the popularity of the 'bad girl' art movement, which saw artists experimenting with exaggerated proportions and elaborate costumes. Issue number three is typical of this output, featuring contributions from artists who often moved between smaller independent publishers to showcase their individual styles. It was generally received as a niche collectible for fans of the specific illustration style promoted by Antarctic Press, rather than a significant narrative contribution to the medium.
