Sonic the Hedgehog #174

Sonic the Hedgehog #174 was published by Archie Comics in April 2007 as part of the long-running series based on Sega's video game franchise. This issue is a pivotal chapter within the 'Enerjak Reborn' story arc, which explores the transformation of Knuckles the Echidna into a powerful antagonist. The narrative follows the darker, more serialized tone that the series adopted during the mid-2000s under the stewardship of writer Ian Flynn, who sought to deepen the lore and character dynamics of the Sonic universe.

The interior artwork for this issue was primarily handled by Tracy Yardley, whose dynamic, action-oriented style became synonymous with this era of the series. Yardley’s approach emphasized fluid movement and expressive character design, which helped bridge the gap between the aesthetic of the modern Sonic games and the comic's own unique continuity. The issue was generally well-received by the established fanbase, specifically for its role in escalating the stakes of the conflict surrounding the Brotherhood of Guardians.
