Tales of the Zombie #7

Published by Marvel Comics in 1974, Tales of the Zombie was part of the publisher's Curtis Magazines line, a black-and-white publication imprint designed to circumvent the strictures of the Comics Code Authority. The title emerged during a mid-seventies resurgence of horror comics, leveraging the loosened regulations to feature more visceral imagery and mature thematic content that aligned with the pulp-horror aesthetic of the era.

The issue features work from prominent creators of the period, including writers like Doug Moench and artists like Pablo Marcos, who were central to defining the moody, atmospheric tone of the series. By focusing on the supernatural and the grotesque, the publication sought to capture an older readership interested in the classic horror tropes popularized by 1950s comics, maintaining a distinct visual identity through its stark monochromatic presentation and intricate ink work.
