Tengu to Kitsune, Chichi ni Naru #1

Tengu to Kitsune, Chichi ni Naru, authored by the artist known as Nii, is a work rooted in the vibrant world of independent Japanese manga and doujinshi culture. Serialized within the broader context of modern supernatural slice-of-life narratives, the series explores the domestic life of mythological creatures. The first issue serves as the foundation for this character-driven story, introducing a tone that blends traditional folklore elements with contemporary family dynamics.

The aesthetic of the series is defined by a clean, emotive character design that highlights the contrast between the stern, avian-like tengu and the spirited fox spirit. Nii focuses on the nuances of emotional connection and the comedic challenges of co-parenting in an otherworldly setting. Upon its release, the work was received as a gentle, heartwarming addition to the genre, praised for its accessible linework and the author's ability to imbue mythical beings with relatable, human-like anxieties.
