Tensei Maō to Ponkotsu Yūsha: Maō wa Kakko Yoku Taosaretai no ni, Yōsha ga Sugu Zenmetsu Shiyagaru #4

Tensei Maō to Ponkotsu Yūsha is a light novel series written by Tane and illustrated by Kuromame, first appearing on the user-generated content platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō before being acquired for physical publication by Kadokawa under their Sneaker Bunko imprint. The series leans into the tropes of the isekai and fantasy genres, utilizing a comedic premise where a reincarnated demon king desires a grand, dramatic defeat at the hands of a hero, only to be perpetually frustrated by the incompetence of the heroes who arrive to challenge him.

The fourth volume, released in late 2021, continues the established stylistic tone of the series, characterized by Kuromame’s bright, expressive character designs that emphasize the slapstick nature of the narrative. As part of the wider light novel market, this installment was produced to satisfy a niche readership that enjoys subversions of classic role-playing game motifs, and it was received by fans of the genre as a consistent continuation of the ongoing humorous power struggle between the protagonist and his ill-fated challengers.
