Where it came from
The Authority #25 was published by WildStorm in 2002 as part of a highly anticipated creative team change for the series. Following the departure of original creators Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch, the title was known for its deconstruction of the superhero genre, featuring ultra-powerful, morally gray protagonists who intervened in global politics. This specific issue served as a notable transition period for the team's ongoing narrative within the WildStorm universe.
The issue features art by Danijel Zezelj, whose moody, abstract, and heavily atmospheric illustration style departed significantly from the widescreen cinematic aesthetic established by Hitch. This creative shift was intended to push the boundaries of the medium, though it sparked varied reactions among fans who had become accustomed to the title's previous visual identity. It remains a distinctive entry in the series, reflecting the experimental editorial direction of the era.
