The Bozz Chronicles #5

The Bozz Chronicles was a science fiction comic book series published by Epic Comics, an imprint of Marvel, beginning in 1985. It was created by writer David Michelinie and artist Bret Blevins, representing an effort by the publisher to experiment with more mature, character-driven storytelling within the science fiction genre. The series follows the exploits of Bozz, a cynical, interplanetary traveler navigating a complex and often absurd cosmic environment.

Issue number 5 stands as a key installment in the series, maintaining the distinct visual style established by Blevins, whose kinetic and detailed line work defined the aesthetic of the title. The creative team aimed to blend space opera tropes with a distinct sense of irony, a tone that resonated with a niche but appreciative audience during the mid-eighties alternative comics boom. While the series was short-lived, it remains a notable example of the creative freedom afforded by the Epic Comics imprint during that era.
