The Brave and the Bold #117

The Brave and the Bold #117, published by DC Comics in 1975, represents a characteristic entry in a series famously dedicated to team-up narratives. During this era, the title served as a reliable showcase for pairing established icons with less conventional characters to test their viability in shifting market conditions. This specific issue features a pairing of Batman and the Elongated Man, leaning into the investigative detective tropes that defined the series under the editorial direction of Murray Boltinoff.

The cover and interior art reflect the mid-1970s house style of DC Comics, characterized by a transition toward more dynamic, narrative-driven action sequences. Jim Aparo, who became synonymous with the title through his long-running stint as the primary artist, brought a distinctively moody, noir-inflected aesthetic to the Batman segments. The work was generally received as a standard but high-quality example of the era's storytelling, praised by collectors for its consistency and the tight creative synergy between the writers and the visual team.
