The Darkness vs. Angelus #1

The Darkness vs. Angelus #1 was released in 2009 by Top Cow Productions as a pivotal crossover miniseries bridging the supernatural mythologies of the Top Cow Universe. This issue was crafted to pit the two primordial forces—the Darkness, embodied by Jackie Estacado, and the Angelus, representing the opposing force of light—in a direct confrontation that had been teased throughout the shared history of the two properties. The series was designed to explore the precarious balance between these cosmic entities after years of separate, interwoven narrative arcs.

The issue features a creative team centered on writer Ron Marz and artist Stjepan Sejić, whose distinct painterly style defined the aesthetic of the series. Marz aimed to distill the complex, long-running lore of both characters into a high-stakes conflict, while Sejić focused on capturing the visceral, dark fantasy atmosphere that characterizes Top Cow's supernatural lineup. Upon its release, the comic was met with interest from fans of the Witchblade and Darkness franchises, praised primarily for its visual presentation and the continuation of the core conflict between the series' titular forces.
