The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #28

The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu was a black-and-white magazine published by Marvel Comics during the mid-1970s, a period defined by the massive cultural fascination with martial arts cinema in the West. This publication served as a vehicle for the company to explore mature, character-driven storytelling outside the constraints of the Comics Code Authority. The magazine format allowed for more elaborate illustrations and text-heavy features that blurred the line between traditional comic books and pulp adventure magazines.

Issue number 28, released in September 1976, reflects the series' eclectic mix of original martial arts fiction and profiles of film icons. The cover art and interior features were crafted by a rotating roster of artists and writers dedicated to capturing the gritty, cinematic energy of the era. The series was well-received by fans of the genre for its commitment to high-action storytelling and its role as a bridge between the popularity of stars like Bruce Lee and the medium of sequential art.
