Where it came from
The Demon #31, released in 1994, emerged during a period of experimentation for DC Comics as they explored darker, more supernatural corners of their universe. This issue is part of the second volume of The Demon series, which was largely defined by its unique blend of horror, dark humor, and high-fantasy action centered on Etrigan the Demon and his human host, Jason Blood.
This specific issue features the creative work of writer Garth Ennis and artist John McCrea, a pairing renowned for their distinct, gritty aesthetic and sardonic wit. Their tenure on the title is widely regarded for pushing the boundaries of the character, moving away from traditional superhero conventions to embrace a more cynical and grotesque tone that resonated with fans of 90s alternative comics.
