The G.I. Joe Order of Battle #2

The G.I. Joe Order of Battle was a limited series published by Marvel Comics between 1986 and 1987, designed to function as an encyclopedic reference for the expansive G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toy line and comic universe. Issue #2, released in the winter of 1986, continued the meticulous documentation of characters introduced in the original Hasbro toy line. It was conceived as a way to provide fans with canonical background information, dossiers, and technical specifications for the various joes and cobra operatives that were otherwise scattered across packaging art and occasional comic book panels.

The editorial team at Marvel, under the guidance of editor-in-chief Larry Hama, curated the series to unify the fragmented lore surrounding the franchise. The designs featured updated profile art and detailed character blueprints, maintaining the military-industrial aesthetic established by the toy line. While the series was largely utilitarian in its narrative approach, it was well-received by collectors for its commitment to internal consistency and its role in codifying the complex G.I. Joe mythology during the height of the franchise's popularity.
