Where it came from
The Infinity War #6, released in November 1992, serves as the climactic conclusion to the six-issue limited series written by Jim Starlin and illustrated by Ron Lim. Serving as a direct sequel to the 1991 event The Infinity Gauntlet, this series was developed by Marvel Comics to further explore the cosmic fallout of Thanos's actions, shifting the narrative focus toward the Magus, an evil version of Adam Warlock who seeks to reshape the multiverse in his image.
Ron Lim’s visual style was instrumental in defining the cosmic aesthetic of early 1990s Marvel, characterized by expansive, high-stakes panels that captured the massive scale of the conflict. The issue was received as a definitive moment for the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe, cementing Starlin’s legacy as the primary architect of the Adam Warlock and Thanos mythos. It remains a significant touchstone in comic history for its role in establishing the complex, recursive nature of cosmic crossovers during that decade.
