The Living Corpse: The Hexx Files #1

The Living Corpse: The Hexx Files #1 was published by Zenescope Entertainment as part of the broader The Living Corpse franchise. The series, originally created by Ken Haeser and Buz Hasson, follows the adventures of a reanimated corpse attempting to maintain his humanity while navigating a world of supernatural threats. This specific spin-off was designed to expand the lore of the central character, shifting the tone toward a more investigative, occult-focused mystery.

The visual identity of the issue reflects the dark, gritty aesthetic characteristic of the creators' collaboration, blending traditional pulp horror elements with a modern comic book sensibility. The artwork emphasizes heavy shadows and visceral character designs, which were intended to evoke the classic underground horror comics of the mid-20th century. Upon its release, the issue was received as a stylistic departure that leaned into the darker, more procedural side of the series, drawing interest from readers who preferred the established supernatural world-building of the earlier installments.
