Where it came from
The Uncanny X-Men #305, published in October 1993, serves as a pivotal chapter in the post-Fatal Attractions era of Marvel Comics. Following the climactic events where Magneto stripped Wolverine of his adamantium, this issue focuses on the emotional and physical fallout within the X-Mansion. It captures a somber tone as the team grapples with their losses, shifting the narrative focus from large-scale action toward character-driven introspection.
Written by Scott Lobdell with art by Jan Duursema, the issue reflects the early 90s house style of the X-Men line, characterized by high-stakes melodrama and intricate ensemble storytelling. Duursema’s pencils emphasize the psychological weight on the characters, moving away from the more hyper-kinetic visual style of the preceding era to ground the team's recovery in a more human, grounded aesthetic that resonated with readers navigating the post-event status quo.
