The Vampire & His Pleasant Companions #5

The Vampire & His Pleasant Companions, or Kyūketsuki to Yukai na Nakama-tachi, is a manga series written and illustrated by Michiyo Akaishi. Debuting in the early 2010s, the series functions as a spin-off to Akaishi's earlier work, The Night of the Vampire. It emerged during a period of sustained Japanese interest in gothic-themed shōjo manga, blending traditional supernatural tropes with the lighter, comedic interactions that characterize the author's signature style.

Issue number five continues the series' exploration of its supernatural protagonists attempting to navigate modern daily life. Michiyo Akaishi, a long-established manga artist known for her precise line work and emotive character designs, intentionally crafted this series to balance darker thematic elements with humorous character dynamics. The release was generally well-received by fans of the original series, who appreciated the expansion of the lore and the consistent artistic quality maintained across the volumes.
