Ultimate Endgame #2

Ultimate Endgame was published by Marvel Comics in 2002 as a concluding narrative arc for the initial run of the Ultimate Marvel imprint. This line was conceived to modernize and update Marvel's foundational characters for a new generation of readers, stripping away decades of convoluted continuity. The second issue was part of a high-stakes storyline intended to pivot the universe toward new editorial directions, serving as a bridge between early experiments in the Ultimate line and the more cohesive world-building that would follow.

The creative team behind the series leaned into a gritty, cinematic aesthetic designed to distinguish the Ultimate universe from the traditional mainstream Marvel continuity. The art style emphasized realism and visceral storytelling, a stylistic choice that was met with significant commercial success and helped solidify the popularity of the Ultimate brand. The issue stands as a notable example of the early 2000s trend toward deconstructing long-standing comic book tropes through a contemporary lens.
