Ultimate Spider-Man #62

Ultimate Spider-Man #62, released in 2004, is part of Marvel's Ultimate imprint, which was designed to modernize and streamline the company's core characters for a new generation of readers. This specific issue is a chapter in the Carnage arc, a storyline that reimagined the visceral, high-stakes nature of the symbiote for the Ultimate universe. Writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mark Bagley were instrumental in this project, focusing on a more grounded, character-driven approach that emphasized Peter Parker's teenage anxieties alongside the evolving threats he faced.

The art style remains consistent with Mark Bagley’s long tenure on the series, characterized by a clean, dynamic aesthetic that helped define the visual language of the Ultimate universe. Upon release, the issue and the surrounding arc were well-received for their ability to integrate darker horror elements into the established continuity without losing the personal focus of the narrative. It stands as a significant example of the creative team's successful effort to deconstruct and rebuild Marvel's mythos during the early 2000s.
