Ultimate X-Men #47

Ultimate X-Men #47 was published in 2004 as part of Marvel Comics' Ultimate line, an initiative designed to modernize and reboot classic character origins for a new generation of readers. This specific issue falls within the 'Magnetic North' story arc, written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by David Finch. The narrative delves into the complex consequences of Magneto’s ideological war, focusing on the sociopolitical tension between mutants and human society.

The creative direction of this era was defined by a grounded, cinematic approach that stripped away the decades of convoluted continuity associated with mainstream X-Men titles. David Finch’s artwork provided a gritty, detailed aesthetic that aligned with the dark tone of the Ultimate universe, aiming to heighten the sense of danger and consequence. Upon release, the issue was received as a pivotal moment in the series, further cementing the status of the Ultimate X-Men as a darker, more visceral reimagining of the original team.
