Urushi Uruhashi #2

Urushi Uruhashi, a short-lived Japanese independent manga series, emerged during the late 1990s as part of a wave of experimental alternative comics that explored lacquer artistry and traditional craftsmanship through a surrealist lens. The second issue was published to expand upon the series' unique visual language, which blended detailed technical illustrations of artisanal techniques with introspective, character-driven narratives.

The series was conceived and illustrated by an independent creator focused on the aesthetic intersection of modern manga and classical Japanese craft. While the series did not achieve widespread commercial success, it earned a dedicated following among enthusiasts of avant-garde manga for its precise line work and the atmospheric, contemplative pacing that distinguished it from the dominant shonen and shojo titles of the era.
