Usagi Yojimbo #62

Usagi Yojimbo issue 62, titled 'The Shrouded Moon,' was released in 2003 as part of the long-running series created, written, and illustrated by Stan Sakai. The series follows a rabbit ronin in an anthropomorphic version of Edo-period Japan. Sakai, a Japanese-American cartoonist, intended the work to function as both an homage to classic samurai cinema, particularly the works of Akira Kurosawa, and a vehicle for exploring Japanese history and folklore.

By the release of the 62nd issue, Sakai had established a distinctive, clean-lined artistic style that favored storytelling clarity over excessive ornamentation. The issue was published during the Dark Horse Comics era of the series, a period that cemented the title's reputation as a critical darling known for its consistent quality and meticulous historical research. It is well-regarded among comic historians for its ability to maintain a serialized narrative that is simultaneously accessible to new readers and deeply rewarding for long-term followers.
