Usotsuki Mi-kun to Kowareta Ma-chan: Totteoki no Uso #1

Usotsuki Mi-kun to Kowareta Ma-chan: Totteoki no Uso, volume one, is a manga adaptation of the light novel series written by Hitoma Iruma. Published by Kadokawa Shoten, the manga was illustrated by Ren Kisaragi and debuted in the late 2000s. The series serves as a psychological thriller that explores the dark, complicated relationship between two childhood friends who share a traumatic history. Its narrative tone is deliberately unsettling, blending elements of mystery with a stark, melancholic aesthetic intended to mirror the psychological fragility of the protagonists.

The character designs by Kisaragi were crafted to evoke a sense of deceptive innocence, using soft linework to contrast with the brutal subject matter of the story. Upon its release, the manga was noted for successfully capturing the idiosyncratic prose style of Iruma’s original novels, which had already gained a dedicated cult following in Japan. It remains a notable entry in the psychological genre, recognized by fans of the light novel series for its faithful atmospheric translation into the visual medium.
