Venom: Sinner Takes All #5

Venom: Sinner Takes All #5, released in 1995, served as the conclusion to a five-part limited series published by Marvel Comics. This title was part of a mid-nineties push to capitalize on the immense popularity of the Venom character, who had evolved from a Spider-Man villain into an anti-hero lead. The series was scripted by Larry Hama, a veteran writer known for his work on G.I. Joe, who sought to emphasize the character’s volatile internal conflict and his lethal brand of vigilante justice.

The interior artwork for the final issue was provided by Greg Luzniak and Ted Halsted, who leaned into the dark, kinetic aesthetic characteristic of the era’s 'grim and gritty' comic book style. The series was designed to explore Eddie Brock’s struggle to maintain his identity while bound to the symbiote, specifically focusing on his confrontation with the villainous Sin-Eater. It remains a notable relic of the mid-nineties Marvel landscape, representing a time when the publisher heavily leaned into specialized, darker narratives for its most recognizable anti-heroes.
