Vietnam Journal #15

Vietnam Journal #15 is a key installment in the acclaimed comic book series written and illustrated by Don Lomax. Launched in the late 1980s, the series was born from Lomax’s own experiences as a combat medic in the Vietnam War. His goal was to provide a gritty, unflinching, and journalistic perspective on the conflict, contrasting the often romanticized or overly simplified portrayals common in contemporary media. The series is celebrated for its commitment to historical authenticity and its grounded, somber tone.

The design and narrative approach of the series emphasize the repetitive, claustrophobic, and morally ambiguous nature of the war. By following the exploits of the fictional war correspondent Scott 'Journal' Neitlich, Lomax offered readers a firsthand look at the daily struggles of infantry soldiers. The series has earned lasting respect from critics and veterans alike, specifically for its lack of political preaching and its focus on the human reality of the combat experience.
