Where it came from
Voodoo #1, published in 1993, served as the launch title for Jim Lee’s WildStorm imprint under Image Comics. Created by Jim Lee, Brandon Choi, and Lobdell, the series was designed to establish the supernatural and occult corner of the Wildstorm Universe. It introduced Priscilla Kitaen, a dancer and undercover daemonite agent, whose design reflected the sleek, provocative aesthetic characteristic of early 1990s superhero comics.
The character and title were received as a quintessential example of the Image Comics era, focusing on high-energy, stylized action and intricate penciling. While the series was aimed at a mature audience within the comic book market, it remains a notable touchstone for the expansion of the Image roster during the mid-nineties as the studio sought to diversify its catalog beyond traditional superhero tropes.
