Wallace & Gromit Dailies #1

Wallace & Gromit Dailies #1 marks the initial collection of the newspaper comic strips featuring Nick Park's iconic claymation duo. Debuting in the mid-1990s, these strips were commissioned to extend the reach of the characters beyond their successful short films, such as The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave. The transition from stop-motion animation to a two-dimensional print format required a new approach to visual storytelling, focusing on daily observational humor while maintaining the distinct personalities of the inventor and his resourceful dog.

The strip was brought to life by a team of talented creators, including Titan Books, who compiled these early entries to preserve the kinetic energy of the animated originals in a static medium. The design sought to mimic the whimsical, suburban atmosphere of the films through clean linework and punchy gag structures. Upon release, the compilation was well-received by fans of British animation, serving as a nostalgic touchstone that captured the charm and dry wit of the Aardman Animations studio during its period of global expansion.
