Will Rogers Western #2

Will Rogers Western #2 was published in 1952 by Dell Comics as part of the Four Color series, which frequently spotlighted popular entertainment figures of the mid-twentieth century. The comic book was created to capitalize on the enduring cultural legacy of Will Rogers, the beloved American humorist and entertainer, by translating his homespun persona and Western aesthetic into the serialized storytelling format that dominated the era's newsstands.

The illustrations in this issue follow the house style of Dell Comics during the Golden Age, prioritizing clean lines and accessible visual narratives that appealed to a broad family audience. While the comic utilized the name and likeness of the late entertainer, it functioned as an idealized fictionalization of his adventures. The title was received as a standard entry in the vast landscape of mid-century celebrity-branded westerns, serving as a nostalgic artifact of the post-war preoccupation with American frontier mythology.
