Witch Watch #17

Witch Watch #17 is a chapter from the ongoing manga series authored and illustrated by Kenta Shinohara, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2021. The series blends elements of magical fantasy with romantic comedy and slice-of-life tropes, centering on the protective bond between a witch-in-training named Nico Wakatsuki and her ogre familiar, Morihito Otogi. Shinohara, previously known for his work on Sket Dance, designed the series to subvert traditional magical girl narratives by emphasizing comedic domestic interactions alongside supernatural action.

As an installment in the long-running series, this issue contributes to the established narrative flow of the magazine's weekly rotation. Like much of Shinohara's work, the design utilizes expressive character work and tight comedic timing to maintain reader engagement within the competitive landscape of Shonen Jump. While specific critical reception of individual chapters is rarely isolated, the series as a whole has been recognized for its inventive panel layouts and the consistent evolution of its core character dynamics.
