Wolverine #19

Wolverine #19 was published in December 1989, arriving during a pivotal era for Marvel Comics as the character solidified his status as a standalone superstar. Written by Archie Goodwin with artwork by John Byrne, this issue is part of the long-running second volume of the Wolverine series. The story reflects the gritty, noir-inspired tone that defined many of the solo adventures featuring Logan during this period, focusing on international intrigue and his evolving personal history.

The creative pairing of Goodwin and Byrne brought a distinct aesthetic to the book, blending dynamic action sequences with the detailed, clean line work that characterized Byrne’s tenure at Marvel. While Wolverine #19 is not as widely discussed as the character's debut in Incredible Hulk #180-181 or the 1982 limited series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, it serves as a representative example of the mid-tier continuity building that expanded Wolverine's lore before his massive surge in popularity throughout the 1990s.
