Wonder Woman #42

Wonder Woman number 42 was published in July 1950 during the Golden Age of comic books. At this stage in the character's publication history, the title was overseen by writer Robert Kanigher, who had taken over the scripting duties following the departure of creator William Moulton Marston. This era of the series frequently leaned into lighthearted, episodic adventures that emphasized Wonder Woman's status as both an Amazon warrior and a central figure in the DC Comics pantheon.

The cover and interior art of this period were produced by Harry G. Peter, the original artist who defined the visual identity of Wonder Woman. Peter’s work is characterized by a distinctive, slightly archaic aesthetic that differed significantly from the more streamlined superhero art typical of the late 1940s. While these issues were primarily designed as inexpensive mass-market entertainment for children, they are now valued by historians for preserving the foundational visual language of one of the most enduring figures in American mythology.
