X-Factor #101

X-Factor #101, published in April 1994, emerged during a transitional period for the X-Men franchise. Following the conclusion of the 'Fatal Attractions' crossover, the series focused on a revamped team roster under the leadership of Havok. The issue serves as part of the ongoing narrative exploring the team's dynamics as government-sanctioned mutants, navigating the complex political landscape of the Marvel Universe in the mid-1990s.

The issue features art by Jan Duursema, who was a prominent contributor to the X-titles during this era. Her work on this series helped define the visual aesthetic of the team's mid-nineties iteration, characterized by the distinct costume redesigns and shifting character interpersonal tensions prevalent in the post-Jim Lee era of Marvel comics. The writing by J.M. DeMatteis leaned into the psychological depth of the characters, a hallmark of his approach to team books at the time.
