Where it came from
X-Factor #45, published in 1989, arrived during a transitional period for the X-Men franchise. Written by Louise Simonson with artwork by Arthur Adams, the issue is notable for its connection to the Acts of Vengeance crossover event. In this narrative arc, Marvel's supervillains orchestrated complex schemes against heroes they did not typically encounter, pushing characters like the members of X-Factor into unexpected tactical confrontations.
The visual storytelling by Arthur Adams remains a highlight of this era, as his intricate line work and distinct character proportions defined the look of the book during this period. The issue was received as a solid entry in the broader X-Men mythos, serving as a reliable piece of the late-eighties comic landscape that balanced ongoing character development with the editorial mandates of the larger Marvel crossover event.
