X-Men Classic #92

X-Men Classic #92 was published in 1993 as part of Marvel Comics' long-running reprint series, which was designed to bring the early, foundational stories of the X-Men to a new generation of readers. This specific issue reproduces the content originally found in X-Men #136, a pivotal chapter in the Dark Phoenix Saga. By the time this reprint series launched, the popularity of the X-Men had surged to unprecedented heights, necessitating an accessible way for collectors to revisit the iconic work of writer Chris Claremont and artist John Byrne.

The issue features the creative team's signature blend of high-stakes cosmic drama and intimate character development, centered on the struggle against the corrupting influence of the Phoenix force. The design and presentation were intended to honor the original 1980s aesthetic while providing supplemental material, such as new cover art and insightful commentary, that offered contemporary readers deeper context on how these stories shaped the modern Marvel Universe. It stands as a significant artifact of the 1990s comic book boom, reflecting a deliberate editorial effort to curate and preserve the history of the franchise.
