X-O Manowar #38

X-O Manowar #38 was published in 1995 as part of the Valiant Comics line during the mid-nineties era of the publisher's history. This issue features the work of writer Jorge Gonzalez and artist Sal Velluto, continuing the saga of Aric of Dacia, a Visigoth warrior bonded to a sentient alien suit of armor. At the time, the series served as a cornerstone of the Valiant universe, blending science fiction with historical epic elements to differentiate itself from the superhero paradigms dominant in the mainstream market.

The visual design and narrative tone of this era were heavily influenced by the aesthetic sensibilities of the nineties, characterized by dynamic action sequences and elaborate cover art intended to appeal to the collector market. While the issue was produced during a period of transition for Valiant, it remains a tangible piece of the company's attempt to maintain consistent character development within their expansive internal continuity. Reception at the time reflected the broader trends in the industry, where established readers appreciated the deepening of Aric's personal mythology amidst the shifting editorial landscape of the mid-nineties.
