Yagate Tako ni Naru Kimi to #1

Yagate Kimi ni Naru, known in English as Bloom Into You, debuted as the first chapter of Nio Nakatani's yuri manga series in the October 2015 issue of Dengeki Daioh, published by ASCII Media Works. The series was conceived to explore the complexities of romantic expectations and personal identity, focusing on a protagonist who struggles to feel the spark of love that she sees in others. Nakatani's intent was to subvert traditional genre tropes by examining the internal hesitation of characters navigating queer relationships during their formative high school years.

The debut was received with considerable acclaim for its nuanced character development and Nakatani’s delicate, expressive art style. By positioning the narrative through the lens of a student council dynamic, the series quickly distinguished itself as a standout title within the magazine's catalog. Its reception established a dedicated fanbase that appreciated the story's earnest approach to emotional growth, ultimately leading to a successful anime adaptation and cementing the first issue's status as the start of a modern cornerstone in the yuri genre.
