Yojimbot #1

Yojimbot #1, written and illustrated by Sylvain Repos, was released as a modern science fiction comic that blends elements of Japanese samurai cinema with a post-apocalyptic, mechanized setting. The series emerged from a desire to combine the stoic, honorable archetype of the ronin with a high-stakes, action-oriented aesthetic, heavily influenced by the visual storytelling found in manga and Western graphic novels alike.

The design of the titular character and the surrounding world reflects a meticulous attention to detail, emphasizing the contrast between the decay of a scorched Earth and the rigid, functional design of the robotic protagonist. Upon its debut, the series was received as a vibrant entry into the French comic market, praised for its kinetic panel layout and the expressive, gritty art style that grounds its surreal premise in a believable sense of weight and motion.
