Yomawari Neko #12

Yomawari Neko, or Night Watch Cat, began as a web comic serialized on Twitter by artist Kaoru Fukaya in 2015. The series gained a dedicated following for its poignant, short-form vignettes centered on a stray cat named Heizo who wanders the streets at night, offering comfort and counsel to those struggling with personal hardship or loneliness.

The physical volumes, including the twelfth installment, serve as curated collections of these digital strips. Fukaya’s minimalist brushwork and watercolor style were intentionally chosen to evoke a sense of warmth and understated empathy, mirroring the gentle nature of the stories. The series has been widely praised in Japan for its emotional resonance and its ability to address complex adult themes through a deceptively simple narrative lens.
