Yomi no Tsugai #12

Yomi no Tsugai, or Daemons of the Shadow Realm, is a manga series authored and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa, who gained global renown for her work on Fullmetal Alchemist. The series debuted in 2021 in Monthly Shōnen Gangan, marking Arakawa’s return to a long-form shōnen narrative. The story centers on Yuru, a young man living in a remote village, whose quiet life is upended by the emergence of supernatural entities known as Tsugai, exploring themes of familial duty, folklore, and complex power dynamics.

The twelfth volume of this series continues the intricate world-building and character development established by Arakawa. Her design process remains consistent with her signature style, prioritizing clear, dynamic action sequences and distinct character silhouettes that ground the supernatural elements in a palpable, gritty reality. Upon release, the series has been well-regarded by critics and readers for its tight pacing and the author's ability to balance dark, mysterious undertones with nuanced emotional stakes.
