Yosemite Sam #39

Yosemite Sam number 39 was published by Gold Key Comics during the 1970s, a period when the company held the license to produce titles featuring classic Looney Tunes characters. These comics were intended primarily for a young audience, offering bite-sized adventures that leaned into the established slapstick personas of the animated shorts, specifically focusing on the short-tempered, gunslinging antics of the titular character.

The creative direction for these issues generally followed the house style of Gold Key, prioritizing simple, accessible storytelling that mirrored the pacing of television cartoons. While the work of individual artists and writers on these late-run issues was rarely credited in the pages, the design consistently utilized bold character archetypes to ensure immediate recognition for children browsing newsstand racks, maintaining the visual legacy of the character originally created by Friz Freleng.
