Yotsuya-kun to Hajime-kun #1

Yotsuya-kun to Hajime-kun, written and illustrated by Kaname Itsuki, began its serialization in the manga magazine Dear+ in the late 2000s. The series emerged during a period of growth for the boys' love genre, focusing on the nuanced interpersonal dynamics between two high school students. Itsuki crafted the narrative to explore themes of adolescence and budding romantic tension, distinguishing the work through a soft, expressive art style that prioritized character interiority over overt melodrama.

The first volume, which collects the initial chapters of this story, was published to cater to an audience seeking grounded, character-driven storytelling within the genre. Upon release, the work was well-received by readers for its gentle pacing and the authentic development of the protagonists' friendship. It remains a notable entry in Itsuki's bibliography, often cited for its ability to balance lighthearted school life tropes with a sincere exploration of emotional connection.
