Where it came from
Youngblood #2 was published in August 1992 by Image Comics, arriving during the height of the early 1990s speculator boom. As the second installment of Rob Liefeld's flagship title, it served as a key proof of concept for the newly formed Image Comics, which was established by artists seeking creative control and ownership of their work after leaving mainstream publishers like Marvel and DC.
The issue features Liefeld's signature aesthetic, characterized by exaggerated anatomy, dynamic posing, and complex costume designs that defined the Image house style of the era. While the title was an enormous commercial success upon release, it received a mixed critical reception, with many contemporary reviewers focusing on the narrative simplicity and technical inconsistencies that contrasted with the book's intense visual energy.
