Zebra #1

Zebra #1 was released in 2007 as part of a short-lived experimental anthology series focused on contemporary illustration and graphic narrative. The publication emerged during a period of heightened interest in small-press, boutique comics that prioritized high-quality paper stocks and avant-garde aesthetic sensibilities over traditional serialized storytelling.

The design of the series was helmed by independent artists who sought to bridge the gap between fine art zines and traditional periodical comics. By utilizing minimal color palettes and abstract paneling, the creators aimed to challenge conventional reader expectations. Upon release, the issue was noted by critics for its ambitious production values, though it remained a niche interest primarily shared among collectors of independent graphic design.
