Zip Kramer: Saviour of the Cosmos #1

Zip Kramer: Saviour of the Cosmos #1 emerged during the mid-1980s independent comics boom, a period defined by a surge in small-press creators experimenting with tropes from the golden age of science fiction. The series was developed as a direct homage to the serialised space adventures of the 1930s, seeking to capture a sense of earnest, retro-futuristic optimism that had largely faded from the darker, more cynical comic narratives prevailing at the time.

The issue was written and illustrated by an independent creative team aiming to blend pulpy, high-stakes galactic narratives with a distinct, streamlined visual aesthetic. While the series achieved a modest cult following among fans of niche sci-fi anthologies, it remained an underground publication, largely appreciated for its stylistic dedication to classic serial tropes rather than wide commercial success.
