Ancestral Empowerment

Ancestral Empowerment was introduced in the inaugural Flesh and Blood set, Welcome to Rathe, released by Legend Story Studios in 2019. As an attack-reaction card, it was designed to support the Brute class, providing a tactical combat boost that reinforces the game’s core identity of high-stakes, aggressive exchanges. The card reflects the brutal, visceral aesthetic of the Brute specialization, emphasizing the raw physical strength inherent to the heroes of the Rathe setting.

The visual design and card mechanics were developed under the guidance of James White, who aimed to establish a distinct mechanical identity for each character class at the game's launch. By rewarding players for committing resources during the combat chain, Ancestral Empowerment serves as a foundational example of the game’s design philosophy. Upon its release, it was well-received by competitive players for its efficiency and its ability to turn the tide of a battle, cementing its status as a staple Majestic rarity card within the early Flesh and Blood ecosystem.
