Invigorate

The Invigorate card, originally a common card from the Mercadian Masques set, saw a re-release as a promotional item for Local Game Stores under the code LGS080. These store-specific promotional cards were designed to incentivize play at community hubs, providing players with distinct, alternate-art, or foil versions of utility cards that remained relevant in various competitive formats. By distributing these through local shops, the publisher aimed to bolster grassroots tournament participation and reward consistent attendance.

The design of this iteration maintains the mechanical identity of the original Invigorate, which allows a player to cast the spell for zero mana by giving their opponent life. Illustrated by Kev Walker, the artwork captures the visceral, high-fantasy aesthetic typical of the game's late-nineties and early-two-thousands era. The card was well-received by the competitive community for its inclusion in powerful combo decks, and its status as a promo cemented it as a sought-after collectible for players who appreciate the tactile evolution of card art and frames within the hobby.
