Money or Your Life?

Money or Your Life? is a rare action card released as part of the High Seas expansion for the Decipher Star Trek Customizable Card Game in 1999. The set was designed to explore the fringes of the Star Trek universe, focusing heavily on Ferengi and pirate-themed gameplay mechanics. Its design reflects the thematic shift toward unpredictable player interaction, forcing opponents into high-stakes dilemmas that align with the ruthless commerce and opportunism often associated with Ferengi culture in the series.

The card was illustrated by artists under contract with Decipher, who sought to capture the high-tension, slightly comedic atmosphere of the Ferengi narrative arcs. While the set received praise for its unique tactical depth and ability to diversify game state outcomes, players noted that cards like this required precise timing to be effective. It remains a hallmark of the late 1990s era of card design, where complex card text was used to mirror the intricate negotiation tactics featured in the source material.
