Where it came from
Rest Before Battle, identified as MPW067, was introduced as part of the Mastery Pack Warrior expansion. This set was designed to shift the game's focus toward strategic pacing and resource management, moving away from the purely aggressive strategies that dominated earlier meta-games. The action card was developed to provide players with a necessary utility tool, allowing them to stabilize their board state during high-pressure competitive matches.
The visual design of the card, featuring a classic, atmospheric illustration, was commissioned to evoke a sense of quiet preparation before conflict. It reflects the broader artistic direction of the Mastery Pack Warrior line, which emphasized thematic depth and traditional fantasy motifs. Upon its release, the card was well-received by the player base, often cited for its clean utility and its ability to act as a pivot point for players looking to reclaim control in a stalled game.
